On January 25th Bruno Greber of Ashanti Farm and I gave a 3-hour demonstration at Morven Park Equestrian Center in Leesburg Virginia entitled Classical Dressage with a Technical Twist. The demonstration was attended by more than one hundred people who braved the cold to turn out for this first ever combination of instruction and technology employed for improving riding performance.
Bruno and I demonstrated how currently available technology can greatly enhance the learning and performance of horse and rider. We were joined by Dr. Joyce Harman and her Pliance Pressure pad, which measures the pressures under the saddle and Doug Roberts from Digital TechSolutions, who demonstrated the Sports Video Analysis Software his company sells to coaches and all types of athletic teams. In addition, I demonstrated the Nintendo Wii Fit system for determining the rider’s center of pressure off the horse and through the use of the Wii Fit games, how to improve the rider’s balance.
