- Set of two Hard (Impression) pads + SURE FOOT® Program Instructional DVD.
- Firmest pad in the SURE FOOT® pad in the lineup.
- Two working direct surfaces. One side is DuraFlex coated.
- This pad feels solid and gives slowly under the horse’s weight. It will continue to give until the entire load bearing area of the hoof is in contact with the pad thereby taking the impression of the horse’s hoof from the ground perspective.
- The horse’s hoof impression will remain for several minutes after the horse steps off allowing you to observe how the horse is weight bearing on each hoof. You can see where a horse carries the most weight in his hoof, such as the toe, heel, or side.
- Pads are warranted against breakage (cuts, minor slices, dents or bites are considered normal wear and tear) and delamination of either the pad or DuraFlex coating.
- The pads are 10 x 12 inches and 2 inches thick.
The Hard (Impression) pad is ivory with the orange DuraFlex coating. It is the firmest SURE FOOT® pad and a favorite of Wendy. The material is a proprietary foam exclusively available to us for this application. The unique performance of this pad is that is provides virtually no rebound and is similar to bare ground when initially stepped on. However, as the horse stands on the pads it gradually gives way to his weight. And as it gives with the weight, it will continue to do so until the entire load bearing area of the hoof is in contact with the pad.
When the horse steps off the pad, his hoof leaves an impression that will allow you to see where he carries the most weight in his hoof, such as the toe, heel, side. Areas with little or no weight bearing will leave little or no impression. With two pads, the difference of side-to-side or front-to-rear can be seen. This visual will give clues into the horse’s habitual posture; if he is always toe loading, he will not get the right input into his nervous system through the internal structures of the hoof in the rear of the foot.
The Hard (Impression) pad is valuable to use in the presence of your farrier, as the impression showing how your horse is loading is not something that cannot be seen when the horse is standing in a barn aisle. Seeing the loading can be used in determining proper trim and shoeing, and assist in developing a rehabilitation program to improve weight distribution and balance while retraining the habitual posture patterns.
Our exclusive proprietary DuraFlex surface coating is flexible, extending the life of the pads and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. The DuraFlex color allows you to easily identify the different pads at a glance.*
The pads are 10 x 12 inches and 2 inches thick. The rectangular shape allows them to easily align when tapped into place with your toe. Their flat surface and rectangular shape make them easy to stack and store in a crate. Their lightweight design makes them easy to carry and use.
The SURE FOOT pads have been designed and tested by Wendy Murdoch, originator of the SURE FOOT® Equine Stability Program. They are safe to use around your horse, are made from as much environmentally friendly materials as possible, and are assembled here in the USA. The foam used in the SURE FOOT pads is also used in products that protect some of the world’s top athletes and is exclusively available to us for use in these forms. You know they are genuine SURE FOOT pads if they carry the SURE FOOT® logo.
Pads are warranted against breakage (cuts, minor slices, dents or bites are considered normal wear and tear) and delamination of either the pad or DuraFlex coating. Do not leave your Firm pads in an enclosed car or trailer, or in direct sunlight for extended periods of time with the charcoal surface upward. Excessive heat may cause alterations in the foam. You may notice a permanent hoof impression on the uncoated side in high heat. This will affect the appearance of pad however it does not affect the pads performance.
*When using the pads in a cold environment (below 40°F or 4° C) use the uncoated surface. The DuraFlex surface stiffens slightly in cold temperatures and may crack. This type of blemish does not affect the function or performance of the pad, simply the look.
