- Set of two Firm Slant pads + SURE FOOT Program Instructional DVD
- Uses the same foam as the firm pads and is cut into a wedge shape providing an angled surface that fully supports the hoof while allowing for the experience of toe or heel loading.
- Horses with excessive toe or heel loading can use these pads to experience the differences between a flat and angled surface and correct their habitual posture.
- The Slant pads have two workable surfaces—a diffusion surface and a direct response surface.
- Pads are warranted against breakage (cuts, minor slices, dents or bites are considered normal wear and tear) and delamination of either the pad or DuraFlex coating.
- The pads are 10 x 12 inches and 2 inches thick.
Lift a hoof for improved performance!
The SURE FOOT Equine Stability Program is a horse’s path to improved performance, comfort and confidence. Developed by internationally known riding instructor Wendy Murdoch, SURE FOOT makes the horse aware of how he is standing, allowing them to explore new ways of standing and more efficient patterns of movement.
When a SURE FOOT pad is placed under a horse’s hoof, he’ll begin to experiment with the way he stands. You’ll often note that the horse will sway back and forth, shift his weight, drop his head, and shift into “grazing mode.” Once the horse is lead off the pad(s), he will continue his experimentation in his movement. This way, he’s able to break habitual movement patterns to find more comfortable, efficient ways of moving.
The Firm Slant pad (charcoal with the yellow DuraFlex coating) uses the same foam as the firm pads and is cut into a wedge shape providing an angled surface that fully supports the hoof while allowing for the experience of toe or heel loading. Slants are popular with horses under their back feet. Horses with excessive toe or heel loading can use these pads to experience the differences between a flat and angled surface and correct their habitual posture. They can be used angled either direction (heel high or toe high) which increases the number of variables when bringing your horse’s attention to how he is standing. Arthritic horses often find the slants very comfortable as evidenced by their desire to remain on the slants.
Two Working Surfaces
These pads have a diffusion surface and direct response surface. The diffusion surface (stamped with the SURE FOOT logo) provides excellent wear resistance and distributes the dynamic load to an area slightly larger than the hoof. The direct response or uncoated surface has slightly lower surface firmness and allows the weight to bear more directly into the foam. These pads may be used with horses of any size and weight.
Our exclusive proprietary DuraFlex surface coating is flexible, extending the life of the pads and can be easily cleaned with soap and water. The DuraFlex color allows you to easily identify the different pads at a glance.*
The Slant pads are 10 x 12 inches and cut into a wedge 2 inches thick at the rear tapering to about 1/8 inch at the toe. The wedge and coated surface is cut in such a way that if the horse steps on the rear of the pad, it will not generally tip up and strike them in the leg. If the pad does tip, the foam will not cause any damage to your horse. The rectangular shape allows them to easily align when tapped into place with your toe. For storage the wedges mate to create a flat surface and their rectangular shape make them easy to stack and store with other SURE FOOT pads.
The foam used in the SURE FOOT pads is also used in products that protect some of the world’s top athletes and is exclusively available to us in these forms.
The SURE FOOT pads have been designed and tested by Wendy Murdoch, originator of the SURE FOOT® Equine Stability Program. They are safe to use around your horse, are made from environmentally friendly materials as much as possible, and are assembled here in the USA. You know it’s a genuine SURE FOOT pad because all of our pads carry the SURE FOOT logo.
Pads are warranted against breakage (cuts, minor slices, dents or bites are considered normal wear and tear) and delamination of either the pad or DuraFlex coating. Do not leave your Firm pads in an enclosed car or trailer or direct sunlight for extended periods of time with the charcoal surface upward. Excessive heat may cause alterations in the foam. You may notice a permanent hoof impression on the uncoated side in high heat. This will affect the appearance of pad however it does not affect the pads performance.
*When using the pads in a cold environment (below 40°F or 4° C) use the uncoated surface. The DuraFlex surface stiffens slightly in cold temperatures and may crack. This type of blemish does not affect the function or performance of the pad, simply the look.
Other SURE FOOT pads include: Firm, Soft, Hard (Impression) and Slant. The SURE FOOT Program can be combined with other modalities of equine bodywork and training.
Be sure to familiarize yourself with the SURE FOOT instructional DVD before starting this program with your horse. If there is any medical issues please consult your veterinarian before beginning SURE FOOT to be sure this program is right for your horse.
Other SURE FOOT pads include: Medium, Soft, Hard (Impression) and Firm. Also be sure to check out the SURE FOOT packages for cost savings on more than one pair of pads.
